Labour backs winter fuel payment boost Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate, Thomas Docherty has welcomed the UK Government’s Budget as goodnews for West Fife pensioners. West Fife pensioners will benefit from an additional one-off payment of £100 to households with someone aged 80 or over and £50 to households with someone aged 60 or over to be paidalongside the Winter Fuel Payment in 2008-09. Thomas explained; “This is good news for local pensioners.  I have always argued that people who have worked hard and contributed to our society throughout their working lives should have greater support in retirement.
